GOD OF FORGE

Meet Vulcan, Birmingham's very own Roman god. My sister and I paid him a visit Saturday night, and on the elevator up we could see the city outside and our reflections inside... it got me thinking about forging and melding and how some people in our lives are truly truly inside us, in our very cells, along with the city and night and sky and the lights and everything in the world we can't even see.

Lynn is one of those people for me.

We laughed like little girls when we went out on the observation deck and saw the sprawl of Birmingham, a place each of us has lived and loved, a place that has shaped us in all kinds of ways. Then one of us got dizzy and decided we should go down. :)

  1. Hi Irene,
I am so glad you had a wonderful time. I have always wanted a sister, but I have 4 brothers. Now I have a wonderful sister in law though....out of 4 brother, I got only one good sis in law..that is OK though, she is a gem!

You asked of our attitude was different with our second adoption...yes and no. Our lives were definitely busier raising our daughter, so we didn't mentally obsess as much....but the desire was just as strong. We definitely had clear boundaries the second time around. We had a very loving and open relationship with Cassie's birthfamily and needed to have the same relationship this time. That was very important to us. We were already parents so that feeling of fullfillment was met, we did not experience that sense of desperation. I will probably delve more into this in my story...thanks for getting my thought process going!!!
    Love,
    Alison

  2. Hi Irene,

So great to hear that you had such a wonderful, giggly time with Lynn! Lynn is my middle name but I don't think about it very often. I take it for granted, but I really like it! Maybe I should change my name...I need a change, right now! I digress...

I hope that you are feeling renewed and refreshed after spending some time away. Sounds like your mind is going!

    Hugs and love,
    Deb
