Tiger
after “Tiger” by Hwang Jong-ha

Striped hide,
    inky eyes –

look inside

and you will find

both samurai

-->
    and lullaby.

I think perhaps we are ALL both samurai and lullaby...

  1. Just perfect! This one needs to be sent out for publication beyond the blog. Cat lovers AND tiger lovers will get it. Nice, tight language and beautiful irony. Bravo!

  2. I wondered which animal would be featured for a portrait poem! And the tiger is perfect, especially since you had the kittens earlier in the month.

  3. I clicked over intending to type "perfect!" and then saw that both the comments here already use that same word! Oh well, it must be the right word!
