A Mac-n-Cheesy Poem from a Bunch of Buttercups

Hello and Happy Poetry Friday! Be sure to visit Tabatha at The Opposite of Indifference, where we are celebrating National Macaroni & Cheese Day!

Here in Birmingham it's our 4th annual Camp Buttercup "for bold and creative girls" -- the homespun camp we created for me and some very special young girls in my life (including a precious adopted sister and a pair of sweet nieces).

Here is our mac-n-cheesy group poem:

CHEESY SUMMER DAYS

sunkissed waves
of mac-n-cheese

a beach
in your mouth

salti-licious!

- Anna, BrenLeigh, Irene & MadiLynn

....and... because we could not reach an agreement about what kind of macaroni and cheese is best (I like homemade, one likes Kraft, another Velveeta.... we decided to feast on all three!)

BrenLeigh, MadiLynn, Anna

Thank you, Tabatha, for this great idea... and to all of you Poetry Friday poets: we will be slurping your poems today!! xo

  3. Salt-i-licious! A new favorite word. Camp Buttercup. That's wonderful. My kids are going to Nana Camp in a week and they always learn some cooking, some jigsaw puzzle skills and the art of conversation. Nothing better than a good summer camp for kids!

  6. Now that is an ocean I can get behind. Love the poem. Glad you all got your favorites.

What a wonderful camp. We are doing mulch camp. Weeding, edging and spreading a mountain of mulch all summer. These are good skills. :-)

  11. Love your group poem - mac 'n cheese can be so addictive, can't it? (And P.S: In the Pacific Northwest, we swear by the local Beecher's Flagship Cheese Sauce spread generously over the macaroni and baked....)Here's a link from Martha Stewart: http://www.marthastewart.com/319315/beechers-flagship-cheese-sauce

  16. That is a sweet poem! They should put it on the back of Kraft mac & cheese boxes. Wouldn't it be amazing if packaging came with a poem on it somewhere?

  19. Now that is a clever way to serve up mac and cheese: poetry-style! Irene, can you please ask the young girls if they would let me place this image poem at my summer gallery, Sunkissed Summer (invitation will be coming out soon)?
