Sometimes Forgiveness Comes Like a Spring Snow
all hush,
no hurry
you wake
to glints
and glimmering
the old wounds
swaddled
in downy light
morning
welcoming you
back to yourself
yet again
Today's ArtSpeak: Light poem features... snow. And forgiveness, which—whether for others or for ourselves—is rarely an easy thing. But sometimes it just...happens. Like snow. xo

Your comparison of spring snow to forgiveness is beautiful, Irene. Thank you for sharing it here. And I am so excited to say that I will be joining you at Highlights in April as will a few other poet friends from Poetry Friday. I can't wait to meet you and Charles!
ReplyDeleteYAY! I get to meet and share time with Rose!! Very happy making. Thanks for telling me. ;)
DeleteIt's great to hear that you & Charles are back again at Highligths! And forgiveness as snow, 'swaddling' the wounds is a special way to think about it, Irene. "Light" is going to make a terrific Artspeak year! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteIrene, I love how your title is the opening line of the poem... and such a beautiful simile. And I'm signed up for Highlights!!!
ReplyDeletePatricia! YAY! Looking so forward to sharing this time with you. :)
DeleteI'm just so pleased for Africa Town! And, hooray for more teaching. Someday, I'm going to join you all. I love "old wounds swadled in downy light."
ReplyDeleteSomeday, Linda. Yes! xo
DeleteBeautiful poem! I love the gentle treatment of those old wounds. And congratulations on the paperback!
ReplyDeleteThis title is WOW! So much in that one line.
ReplyDeleteWhat Marcie said! Your title does so much work here, in the best way. Then you richly draw out that comparison through your word choice and combine it with the perfect image.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the paperback version of African Town, Irene. I read and enjoyed both posts The ArtSpeak poem has such a gentle tone to it. Light is going to brighten your journey this year.
