Valentine's Day Poems by Aileen Fisher & Irene Latham

Valentines

I gave a hundred Valentines.
A hundred, did I say?
I gave a thousand Valentines
one cold and wintry day.

I didn't put my name on them
or any other words,
because my valentines were seeds
for February birds.

Valentines

I didn't get any Valentines.
No Valentines at all.
My pockets are empty.
I'm feeling very small.

Then a snowflake hits my nose.
A cardinal flutters by.
Can it still be called a Valentine
when it comes from the sky?

- Irene Latham

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

  1. Ah, Aileen Fisher & Irene Latham, the best words!

    Here’s my Happy Valentine,
    sent by sky mail, too.
Look up, it’s traveling on a cloud
    all the way to you!

  4. Good Morning! What a lovely way to start today....sweet, sweet and varied Valentines. I love that Can I Touch Your Hair is getting the recognition it deserves. I hope that the boost of energy from that translates into getting more of your ideas into words and out into the world. We need them and all your love, Irene. The kids need it all.
