(Choose Your Own) Progressive Poem is Here!

Hello and welcome to day 2 of this year's Progressive Poem! It's nice to continue this tradition in the midst of COVID19, isn't it?
So many thanks to Margaret for getting us organized and to Donna for getting us started!
In case you missed it, Donna surprised us all by going all Choose-Your-Own-Poem-Adventure and offering a choice of first lines:

"I feel the taste of green upon my toes, my toes"

or

"Sweet violets shimmy, daffodils sway"

Hmmm... I could imagine possibilities using either option, but ultimately I couldn't resist the language, color and movement in line 2! And since I enjoyed choosing so much, I decided I'd like to offer that option to Jone as well. So, here are your choices, Jone:

Sweet violets shimmy, daffodils sway

as warm rain sprinkles my face
[or]
along the wiregrass path to the lake

Can't wait to see what you decide... and where it takes us the rest of the month. Happy National Poetry Month to all! xo

  1. I was secretly cheering all day, "Choose shimmy and sway, Irene!" And you did. Huzzah! Now Jone gets to choose. How fun! I feel a pattern growing here. Be well. xx -- Christie @ https://wonderingandwondering.wordpress.com/

  2. At last we do have those violets and daffodils, love your choice, and then you've opened many possibilities with either line, Irene. It's lovely to imagine what might be with either one!

  3. Oooh, yay! Loving the sway! Now which way? I love that you gave Jone a choice, too! A bit of mystery is fun! I know I enjoyed not only waiting for your line, but waiting to see which you would pick. Go, Jone!

  6. While both lines Donna offered are fabulous, I loved that shimmy and sway, too--and daffodils in general. I can't wait to see where the next choice leads--warm rain or a trip to the lake. What fun!

  7. I love how Donna set us up with multiple choice. Both of your lines delight. Again I have my favorite but will wait to see what Jone chooses.

  8. "Sweet violets shimmy, daffodils sway" was my choice, too, Irene. And now, no matter which line Jone picks, you've added water. A perfect poem for April!

  10. I love how this is starting again this year. Daffodils, violets, sway and choice. Oh luscious ideas. Can't wait to see what way Jone will sway and what will be there for Liz! Thanks to Donna and to you, Irene. Janet Clare F.

  11. What a great start to the Progressive Poem, Irene. It is exciting that you also gave a choice for Jone to decide upon. I again have my favorite so let's see how the poem moves.

  12. So glad you picked "my" line! There was something so entrancing about the movement and the alliteration in the line. What's not to love about violets and daffodils?

  15. Oh, you are all shimmy and sway, sweet Irene. Violets and daffodils are YOU; there could be no other choice! And such completely different (tactile) options offered for your lines, too. I think the CYOA option is fun for this year's poem!
