Hello and Happy Poetry Friday! Be sure to visit Margaret at Reflections on the Teche for Roundup.
I'm continuing my ArtSpeak: Animals Picasso mini-series this week with a dog drawing.
I'm not sure what Picasso intended when he drew this dog, but to me, it looks like a dog vigorously scratching—on the side that we cannot see. (What do YOU see?) Thanks so much for reading.
dog can't stop
tiny itchy visitors
summer picnic
- Irene Latham
Yes, I see that leaning, thus the hidden scratching! For Picasso, it's more real than most of his work. I like that ending, Irene, tells all! Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is wonderful, Irene! Makes me crouch and scratch with him.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I love those "tiny itchy visitors" line. You can absolutely see them in the drawing after reading those words.
ReplyDeleteThat quizzical expression on the dog's face! Oh, boy, can I relate to itchy visitors this summer.
ReplyDeleteAhhh.... that (scratching!) could certainly be the case! So much movement in this drawing - wonderful! And, belatedly checking in to your last post or two; I hope things are going a bit better this week. Prayers and healing wishes for your mom, and for your navigating any other challenges along your path this summer. XO
ReplyDeleteIrene, sweet haiku. I see him itching on the other side too. I like how he is looking up in exasperation. "tiny itchy visitors" is great.
ReplyDeleteLove this! You've captured the whole moment. "Summer picnic" is the perfect ending.
ReplyDeleteI love your impression of the Picasso sketch, especially the last line, Irene.
ReplyDeleteI have to say I think that dog has a guilty look on its face. Maybe it is tangled up in remnants of its owner's summer picnic?
ReplyDeleteLove this art-poem pairing!
ReplyDeleteI can just about hear the tags on the collar chinking as the dog scratches!
ReplyDeleteSmidgey gives you a high paw, Irene. And she feels Picasso's dog's itchy pain. :)
