Hello and Happy Poetry Friday! Be sure and visit Jama's Alphabet Soup for what I am sure will be a delectable Roundup!
I've had so much fun this week reading nonets from Read Aloud Revival kids, after a video lesson I presented. So. Many. FABULOUS. Poems! Truly, nonets are such a great place for young poets to start.
AND... it's my pleasure to be presenting interactive and transformative poetry today alongside Vikram Madan and Laura Purdie Salas for Fay B. Kaigler Children's Book Festival. I love National Poetry Month!
For my ARTSPEAK: Four Seasons offering, I've got a van Gogh-inspired haiku for you! Funny thing: pretty much every time I type "almond blossoms," I first accidentally type "almost blossoms." :)
It happened so often when working on this poem and creating the post that I've just written "almost blossoms" in my writing notebook to use as a writing prompt later. :) Thanks so much for reading.

I love that newborn sky and can't wait to see what you do with "almost blossoms."
ReplyDeleteThe pairing of your words with van Gogh's "Almond Blossoms" is gorgeous, Irene. Our "snowfluff" is just beginning to pop out, so for today I will admire yours.
ReplyDeleteOooh, a poem based on "almost blossoms" is something to look forward to, Irene. Beautiful "snowfluff". :)
ReplyDeleteYour almond blossom is beautiful - but like Molly, I'm curious about those almost blossoms. Sounds like your NPM is delightfully busy!
ReplyDeletePretty almond blossoms, delightful poem! Love
ReplyDelete"snowfluff"!
All blossoms are almost blossoms at one time. Almond blossoms are just more advanced.
ReplyDeleteOh the snowfluff and the newborn sky....all speak to me along with the gorgeous Van Gogh painting. I loved your talk today at the Fay B. Kaigler Festival. It was wonderful and I enjoyed all aspects tremendously. I did have one question I forgot to ask at the end. You began your part with the quote from the fundraiser and I was wondering if you could share that with me. I thought it was both beautiful and powerful. I loved hearing all 3 of you talk about your poems and background and ideas. Truly terrific!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous words and images!
ReplyDeleteSnowfluff and newborn sky are wonderful terms, Irene. I am so thankful for your Live your poem postcard and welcoming note that I added it to my blog with thanks to you today.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous painting and lovely poem to accompany it. Your "snowfluff "and my "wonder-puffs, " perhaps they'll meet sometime… thanks Irene!
ReplyDeleteIt's quite nice to know that van Gogh, too, created a painting for spring just as you wrote for it, too. I've now seen a few blossoming trees & they, and your 'snow fluff' are wonderful. Sorry I couldn't make the presentation today. Hope it was fun!
ReplyDeleteSo good--especially love the newborn sky. I've got van Gogh almond blossom washi tape on the cover of my poetry notebook. 😍
ReplyDeleteIrene, thank you for a wonderful little poem and for the beautiful artwork that goes with it. As Molly said above, I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with "almost blossoms."
ReplyDeleteThank you, also, for a wonderful session yesterday. It was fun, informational, and--most of all--inspirational! My NMP contribution today is the nonet I started during the minute you gave us. I wrote a few of them yesterday, but my first one was my favorite.
Irene, beautiful poem and art. I'm a little fascinated with your "newborn sky." I think about how many times a day the sky fascinates us with a new look. Can anything change as much as the sky?
ReplyDelete"Snowfluff" is lovely. I went to a Van Gogh exhibit as a teen and had this image as a poster in my room for many years. It's beautiful.
ReplyDelete"Snowfluff" and "newborn sky" are so evocative. Thanks for the wonderful session yesterday!
ReplyDeleteThat newborn sky is wonderful! And "almost blossoms." Wow. I love how a typo (or IS it?) can spark whole new ideas! Thank you for Friday :>)
ReplyDeleteI will think of "newborn sky" every morning now, as I watch the sun come up on my drive to work. And "snowfluff"- I have a pear tree that is wanting to do that now, except it keeps snowing in Colorado! Thank you for this beautiful imagery!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty pairing of words and painting...like it was meant to be.
ReplyDeletePerfect. I've held myself to 5-7-5 all month (so far), but I might need to see what happens when I go with wordimages and feltmeanings rather than syllables. (Left brain gives way to right brain...)
ReplyDeleteI do wonder at times if the universe isn't speaking to us directly through auto correct, Irene. Lovely whether its almond or almost. xx Christie @ https://wonderingandwondering.wordpress.com/
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous fluff of a poem, Irene! Truly inspirational.
