Another Cat Haiku

Hello and Happy Poetry Friday! Be sure to visit Karen Edmisten for an inspiring Roundup.

This week's ArtSpeak: LIGHT is another cat haiku! It makes a nice companion, I think, for this one, which I wrote last year (ArtSpeak:ANIMALS) as part of my Picasso min-series.

Today's cat haiku allowed me to combine the cat with the season. Yay! Truly, our cat Maggie loves watching the leaves fall. Don't we all?! Thanks for reading. See you next week, for Roundup here at Live Your Poem. ðŸ˜Š

  3. I enjoyed the Picasso haiku last year, too, Irene, and now this gorgeous art and a beautiful maple that is "unzipping her dress". Fall is certainly a favorite season of so many! Thanks for sharing your love of it, too!

  4. So lovely, Irene! Made me wonder if she thinks of her spring buds as a scanty chartreuse evening gown, just in time for the Oscars. : )

  7. Ooh...sleight of hand...we look away (at the kitty) right as maple unzips...so clever!

  8. There is a theme of autumn tranquility in so many poems today. Thank you for sharing your perfectly observed poem, Irene. I could sit transfixed on that windowsill, too! (With the cat in my lap, of course!)

  9. Never mind the cat, honestly--it's that ordinarily seductive maple I have my eye on! We thought we might have to put our 15yo Chica cat down last night but she is recovering thanks to crazy-expensive treatment and will come home today to watch the remaining leaves fall. Will you not be at NCTE this year?

  11. I love both of these. Love that your cat is named Maggie, too. We had a Maggie years ago, one of the best gray tabbies in the world. Our current cat is Maisy (also a perfect gray tabby) but she's so much like our beloved old Maggie that I sometimes slip and call her that. :) ❤️
